A few of London’s best picnic spots for a fantastic picnic in the city!
A lot of people might not automatically think of London as a great picnic venue, but in fact the capital is the greenest city of its size in the world. Among London’s 173 square kilometres of greenery, you’re sure to find a great open space for your picnic.’
Kensington Gardens, one of the eight Royal Parks, would be a good start. It has beautiful vistas, comfortable benches, the famous Peter Pan statue and it also contains Kensington Palace where baby Prince George and his parents are busily setting up home.’
Regent’s Park is another perennial picnic favourite. It boast a huge rose garden with 30,000 blooms and is home to London Zoo, now concerned with conservation.’So once you’ve dispatched your own picnic meal, maybe something healthy with fruit and nuts, head for the 600 acre animal areas and admire the residents. Newest among them is Sumatran tiger cub ZSL, the first born here in 17 years.’
Finally, North London’s Alexandra Palace, Ally Pally to the locals, offers spectacular views of the city and picnickers could tie this with one of the many great events held at the palace year round.’
