Enjoy the illuminations with a picnic on Blackpool Pleasure Beach!

Hello PicnicShoppers!

The Blackpool Illuminations provide a wonderful shot of bling and extending the seaside town's season for 66 days every year from August all the way to early November.'

The artificial sunshine was first turned on in 1879 and now this free light show contains over a million bulbs and stretches six miles along the Promenade. When you take your bucket and spade to Blackpool, you must try the tram tour along the famous Golden Mile, named not for the sands but the slot machines. You'll get a fantastic glimpse of the Blackpool Tower, and the Fylde coast.'

It's a well known fact that the sea air will increase your appetite, so you could also pack a lovely picnic bag of goodies and treats. Maybe something fishy like crab sarnies or you could pick up a local delicacy like butter pie, probably better known as potato and onion pie. Or something sweet as local boy Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull sang - "I'm going up the 'pool/to taste my mum's jam sarnies..." . To wash this picnic down, definitely something with a bit of front to match the Blackpool spirit. A sparkling Cava or even half a bottle of Champagne. Perfect!
