The Lord Mayor's Show and a fantastic City picnic!
Hello PicnicShoppers! The Lord Mayor's Show isn't a Boris bike-in but the rather grand event relating to the new Lord Mayor of London.'
Dick Whittington's descendant will. on Saturday November 9th, be officially introduced to their city after leaving Mansion House at 11.45am, swearing allegiance to the Crown and getting a blessing at St Paul's.'
It's an inspiring day out in the City of London, with a massive procession of floats winding its way through narrow streets past great landmarks. There's also the chance to eyeball the eighteenth century State Coach, an ornate gold and scarlet item commissioned in 1711 after Lord Mayor Sir Gilbert fell off his horse.'
Enjoy one of the free City tours, then picnic in a central park afterwards. Don't forget to wrap up warm and pack the Thermos. A suitably elevated menu might include a slice of game pie and Coronation chicken sandwiches.'
